space cars

VINTAGE SPACE AGE CARS are a favorite mid century modern design influence for customized vehicles and we think some of them such as the Buick Wildcat II could have given Chevy a run for its money, better yet the Dodge Storm Zeder would have kicked Corvette butt if it had been developed. Alas its not meant to be. Perhaps Dodge should reconsider and create it anyway.

Check out these fantastic vintage space-age concept cars below:

1964 Cadillac Cyclone XP-74
This 1964 XP-74 was designed by GM V.P. Bill Mitchell, and featured the familiar twin missle nose-cones and smaller rear tail-fins.

1955 Ghia Gilda Steamline X Coupe Turbine-Powered
The Ghia Streamline was built as a concept dreamcar for the 1955 auto show in Turin, Italy

1956 Buick Centurion Concept Car

1941 Chrysler LeBaron Thunderbolt
The Chrysler Thunderbolt was a limited edition model and this car is one of only four surviving examples.

1950 Buick Wildcat II Concept Car
The futuristic Wildcat II had flying-wing fenders, 220 hp V-8 engine and air-cooled 4-wheel disc brakes.

1958 GM Firebird III
The aero-dynamic General Motors Firebird III utilized streamlined aircraft styling and featured a drive-by-wire system for the accelerator, brakes and stick-controlled steering. Designed by Harley Earl.
